A Beginner’s Guide to Shake It Off®

Shake it Off

Shake It Off®. It’s MenoMe®‘s nutritional powder for wellbeing, weight management and satiety which our scientist, Peter Lehrke, spent close to two years perfecting in his lab.

It’s full of nutrients, some special ingredients (see below) and soy protein, which is brilliant for women at our time of life.

So far, so good but if you’re anything like me you want to know more. More about the ingredients. More about their benefits. That’s why I put together this guide for you.

Shake It Off® has been specifically formulated to address the nutritional needs of women in menopause which include:

  • Blood sugar spikes resulting in fat production and weight gain
  • Gut discomfort due to sluggish digestion system
  • Lack of energy
  • Stress leading to worsening of menopause signs
  • Bone strength leading to osteoporosis
  • Thinning skin
  • Dry hair
  • Declining cognition

Shake It Off® contains:

1. Aquamin

2. Green Tea Extract

Not too many of us are in the dark about the nutritional benefits of green tea. Well-known and revered for its polyphenols including flavonoids and catechins, which are powerful antioxidants and thereby health boosters/protectants, studies have also shown green tea to have fat burning qualities.

3. Soy Protein

Non-GMO Soy protein is at the heart of Shake It Off® for protein and satiety. Soy can be controversial, which leads to confusion however you can read all about why soy is the best protein for the meno years here.

Soy is a phytoestrogen (phyto means plant) and packed with isoflavones which have many beneficial effects on our health and our bodies including cellular protection, keeping cholesterol levels in a good place and inhibiting blood clots.

4. Guar Gum

A soluble dietary fibre, guar gum comes from legumes and is often used as a food additive as it is a good binder and thickener. It is also low in calories but high in fibre and some studies have shown it may be beneficial for lowering blood sugar and cholesterol, weight management and digestion.

Its thickening properties may have the added benefits of promoting satiety and helping us feel fuller for longer. Hurrah.

5. Beneo Orafti Synergy1

This functional fibre ingredient delivers multi-pronged benefits helping us feel fuller for longer, increasing bone health, and serving up a prebiotic that improves the balance of probiotic organisms in the intestines, contributing to a healthy gut.

With so many benefits we’ve got to love it!

6. Vitacholine

What is Vitacholine? I’m so glad you asked. There’s no picture because it’s more of a scientific diagram so the best way to describe it is that like Beneo Orafti Synergy1 we can get hold of these amazing ingredients that scientists have toiled away in their labs perfecting. This one uses choline (surprise!), which is essential for every body, and is naturally present in some foods, yet 90% of us aren’t getting enough. It’s not a plant (hence the lack of a pic), but it’s especially important if we’re overworked and overstressed. It also gets more and more important as we get older as it gives our memory a boost as well as our heart and energy levels, and if we don’t have enough we have less than optimal muscle function, decreased memory and fatty deposits in the liver. While a lot of us put this down to age the underlying cause could be choline deficiency. It’s why Pete put some water-soluble choline into Shake It Off®. Here’s to our brain function!

7. Vitamins & Minerals

Shake It Off® includes 24 essential vitamins and mineral (that’s why we say it doubles as a multivitamin) including calcium, magnesium, iodine, zinc, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C, D3, E, K1 and folic acid.

The recommended three serves a day delivers:

  • 2/3 of your daily protein requirement
  • 40% of your fibre requirement
  • Your full requirement for Calcium, Magnesium, Iodine, Zinc, Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C, D3, E, K1 and folic acid
  • A good source of manganese, phosphorus, potassium, and choline
  • 72 other trace minerals with additional health benefits

NB: FYI we have asked biochemist Pete if we could make a one serve a day option but he said that would be difficult as it wouldn’t taste nice.

There you have it Ms Meno-She!
