What does it mean to be Clinically Proven?
We often hear medical professionals advising us not to take supplements that do not have evidence of efficacy (effectiveness). Usually, they describe this in words such as; “clinically proven”, or “having undergone clinical trials”.
Of course, the reason is that medical practitioners are concerned about the health, safety and welfare of their patients. And they see too many examples of patients taking both medicines and supplements that at best will have no tangible benefit, but at worst could actually be harmful.

EstroG-100™ Clinical Study Extracts
The Effect of Herbal Extract (EstroG-100) on Pre-, Peri- and Post-Menopausal Women: A Randomized Double-blind, Placebo-controlled Study
Evaluation of Effectiveness and Safety of Natural Plants Extract (Estromon®) on Perimenopausal Women for 1 Year
What is EstroG-100™ (the ingredient in 40+)?
EstroG-100™ is a proprietary standardised herbal ingredient that balances hormonal swings and supports women in pre-, peri-, and post-menopause.
How was EstroG-100™ discovered?
Dr Jae Kim, the inventor, is a Korean medical doctor who studied these plants for many years. Dr. Kim developed some screening tests to find out which plant extracts had the best efficacy and least side effects. He screened 71 different extracts with his E-screen assay before finding the best combination. The EstroG-100™ combination was simply the best at activating estrogenic activity through estrogen specific alkaline phosphatase (ALP) induction.
Does EstroG-100™ contain estrogen?
No, EstroG-100™ does not contain any estrogen properties or well known phytoestrogens such as coumestrans, isoflavones, genistein, daidzein, biochachanin A and formononectin. Unlike all the other herbal ingredients for menopause EstroG-100™ does not bind to estrogen receptors alpha and beta and it does not proliferate MCF-7 cells. In addition, in contrast to other phytoestrogen products, EstroG-100™ was confirmed not to affect FSH/E2, uterus weight, BMI and body weight.
If EstroG-100™ contains no phytoestrogens, then how does it work? What is it’s mode of action (MOA)?
The currently available scientific evidence suggests the mechanism of action for EstroG-100™ improving menopause symptoms and bone metabolism is due to action on a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM). Certain plant compounds in EstroG-100™ act as estrogen agonists and antagonists without influencing the levels of estradiol (E2) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). This means it modulates, or balances, the women’s own estrogen metabolism. This is much better than consuming directly estrogenic compounds because it works in harmony with your own body’s metabolioc and biochemical pathways.
Can I expect better or faster results with a higher dose?
The published clinical studies all used the same dose of EstroG-100™. However we have anecdotal evidence from many years of usage that showed some women had improved results by taking EstroG-100™ more frequently.
Where was the clinical trial on EstroG-100™ published?
There are two clinical studies on EstroG-100™ – one conducted in Korea and the second one in the USA.

Why was the Korean clinical study over a 12 month period?
This was so that changes in bone mineral density could be measured after 1 year taking EstroG-100™. Changes in menopausal symptoms were measured after 3 months and then the trial continued for 12 months to see if there was any benefit for osteoporosis. The bone mineral density was improved by 2.24% compared to 1.14% for the placebo group.
Is there a possibility that the Korean study was affected by the Asian dietary habits? Asian women consume much more soy than Western women.
There are no studies that support the correlation between Asian consumption of soy and menopause relief. If there is any correlation then we would expect to see less Asian women suffering from menopause symptoms, but there are a huge number of Asian women suffering from menopause symptoms just the same as western women. In fact EstroG-100™ has been successful first in Asian markets.
Why is EstroG-100™ called a proprietary herbal ingredient?
EstroG-100™ is patented in USA, Canada, Japan, China, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, and soon to be patented in EU, Brazil, Mexico and other Asian countries. This means it is proprietary, and you can only get EstroG-100™ from the licensee who is Meno-Me® Ltd in New Zealand.
What is the target population for 40+?
Even though the target segment is women aged between 40 and 70, EstroG-100™ is popular in Korea even for women as young as 30 and as old as 80. The reason is that many women experience the discomforts of reducing estrogen levels. Being a key female hormone estrogen is essential to maintain health, wellness and beauty. It plays a crucial role in collagen synthesis, fat distribution, lipid metabolism, control of menstrual cycles, prevention of macular degeneration and maintenance of healthy skin. MenoMe® has renamed its original EstroG-100™ product as 40+ to indicate that women can benefit from it as soon as they enter perimenopause around the age of 40.
Who should not take 40+?
Pregnant or lactating women and those taking anti-thrombotic or anti-coagulant* products should consult your health practitioner before taking EstroG-100™.
*There have been no reported interactions or side-effects when taking anti-thrombotics or anti-coagulants while on MenoMe® 40+ or the active ingredient EstroG-100™. However one of the herbs, Angelica, is known to have anti-coagulant and anti-thrombotic effects when taken in higher doses. Therefore in Korea the Food and Drug Administration requires that there should be an advisory statement on health functional foods containing Angelica. This advisory is not required in other countries, including New Zealand and Canada, where it its registered as a Natural Health Product.
How is it best to take 40+?
Take 2 capsules daily. It is important to take 40+ daily to get the best results.
How long does it take to work?
This varies with individuals (thankfully we are all different!) – but based on our clinical study you can expect to feel improvements within 6 weeks. However based on our experience most women notice improvement within 4 weeks and we have had many testimonials from women experiencing improvement with a week. The fastest case we know of was within 2 days!
Can I expect my symptoms to completely go away when taking 40+?
Every woman is different, and yes some women report their symptoms completely stopping, while others report a significant improvement. The effects can be more subtle for some women with reports of an overall sense of calmness occurring. Also there can be times when symptoms go away for months, then come back for a few weeks then go away/subside again. The mistake some people make if this happens is stopping taking 40+. If you keep taking the capsules your hormones will continue to be balanced naturally for an overall improved menopause experience compared to not taking 40+.
How long should I take 40+ for?
It is advisable to keep taking 40+ for as long as your are in the menopausal age range, and even beyond. We have seen many customers have symptoms return soon after stopping 40+ (EstroG-100™).
Why do my symptoms fluctuate, even when I am taking 40+?
Everything in nature has rhythms and cycles – peaks and troughs. There is no stronger example of the peaks and troughs in our body chemistry than a woman’s monthly cycle. Some women will experience much higher peaks and lower troughs than others, and will therefore experience symptoms more severely.
40+ will help to balance these peaks and troughs, but will not eliminate them to a flat line. This is because of the way 40+ works; to help balance your own natural hormone levels. 40+ does not contain estrogens itself, but works to support your own naturally produced hormones. As such it will smooth but not completely flatten the cyclic rhythm. This is the most natural way to manage the symptoms of menopause and results in outstanding quality of life scores when measured in clinical trials.
Are there any possible adverse reactions from 40+?
There were no noted adverse reactions during the clinical trials. However there may be temporary itching or rash on the skin for people who are sensitive to taking new materials. 40+ helps purify the blood stream, and urticarial (skin rash / hives) may very rarely occur due to the detoxification process. Should this happen reduce the dose to 1 capsule per day, or every second day. If symptoms persist then stop taking for a week and then resume.
Is 40+ suitable for women with endometriosis?
40+ does not have estrogen activity and has not been specifically tested for safety or efficacy for endometriosis. However, in the menopause clinical trials, endometriosis was not a requirement for exclusion of participants in the trials. Only patients with cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, breast cancer, and sex hormone-related cancers were excluded.
Is 40+ suitable for women who have underactive thyroid?
EstroG-100™ (the ingredient in 40+) has not been shown to affect thyroid function, but no studies have been conducted to prove safety for women with under active thyroid.
However, in clinical trials for menopause, subjects with thyroid disease participated where their medical practitioner judged them suitable.
Is 40+ (EstroG-100™) just for menopausal women only or can anyone who has hormone imbalance benefit from it?
We have not obtained any relevant clinical data, however, in the open label clinical evaluation conducted with 20 women, 2 cases of improvement in pre-menstrual syndrome and 2 cases of improvement of menstrual cramps were confirmed.
Can you take 40+ together with other supplements?
Yes. There are no known interactions with 40+.
Can you take 40+ together with other medicines?
If you are taking antithrombotic or anti-coagulant medications consult with your doctor before taking 40+.
Can men take 40+?
There is no harm for men to take 40+, but there is no evidence it will assist men in any way.
How should I store 40+?
Keep in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
What is the shelf life for 40+?
40+ is shelf stable for 3 years (36 months).
Where can I purchase 40+?
40+ is sold exclusively from our website www.meno-me.co.nz. You can purchase here.
